Kanal D is putting an end to the life of its freshman drama series Yeni Hayat, cancelling the series after 8 episodes of its first season has aired.
Yeni Hayat was initial slated to premiere in the spring but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the series was pushed back to September instead. Unfortunately, up against two powerhouse returning drama series (Mucize Doktor and Bir Zamanlar Çukurova), it was unable to capture its target audience.
Yeni Hayat followed the story of Yasemin (Melisa Aslı Pamuk) and Adem (Serkan Çayoğlu), whose lives intersect after he is hired as a bodyguard to protect her against her husband and his many dangerous enemies. Thereafter, sparks slyly begin to fly between Yasemin and Adem, who find comfort and strength in one another, though still being married to their different spouses.
One thing that struck us as odd with this show is the very little effort the stars of the show, except Serkan Çayoğlu, putting into marketing it. Unlike many other shows, Yeni Hayat's stars barely shared anything about the show on their social media feeds, a necessity in this day and age.
Premiere to date, Yeni Hayat is averaging 2.84 in "Total" ratings, 3.40 in "AB" ratings, and 3.14 in "ABC1" ratings.
The final episode of Yeni Hayat will air October 29 on Kanal D!
